Gameplay Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer



the player navigates grid-based areas , fights enemies.


shiren wanderer roguelike game in player traverses thirty randomly generated grid-based, top-down areas – referred floors – in fight enemies , find items. player can move in 8 directions, attack melee weapons , arrows, , use wide range of items different effects: example, heal player, fling away enemies, , allow player swap positions enemy. items kept in player s inventory, has limited amount of space. every step player takes, health regenerates, fullness counter decreases; because of this, player needs carry food items them, take inventory space. gameplay turn-based: every time player performs action, such moving, attacking, or using items, enemies , characters in area perform 1 action well. in addition enemy characters, there friendly characters, 3 of can join player s party , them things such healing.


if player s character falls in battle, forced restart beginning, items , experience points gone; avoid this, player can store items in warehouses found in towns travel through. because of this, player makes long-term progress upgrading powerful items @ village blacksmiths , storing them in warehouses, while upgrading character more of temporary improvement. in nintendo ds version of game, player can avoid having start on getting rescued player: done giving other player rescue quest, either through password or nintendo wi-fi connection. when player embarks on rescue mission, start level 1 , have reach fallen character without stopping @ towns on way. if succeed, rescued player can proceed left off, , keep items , experience points.


after player has finished thirty floors make main game, fourth companion character , additional, optional dungeons become available. these dungeons harder main game, include highly powerful items reward completion. puzzle-based dungeon called fay s puzzles available start, in first town, hosting fifty puzzles avoiding enemies, using items , moving carefully.
