scott earned career best finish of 2nd @ indianapolis motor speedway in 2013 after getting kyle busch on late race restart. busch passed him 2 laps later , scott had settle second. @ richmond international raceway september scott started on pole , led 239 of 250 laps before being passed brad keselowski , finishing second. scott had remarkable 2014 season, earning 23 top ten finishes , finished 4th in championship standings.

in august 2013, announced scott make debut in sprint cup series, driving no. 33 rcr in bank of america 500 @ charlotte motor speedway. scott started race in 19th, , finished 27th, 4 laps down. scott returned no. 33 2014 daytona 500. @ daytona, scott led laps , collected in big 1 late in race. @ fontana few weeks later, tangled aric almirola when almirola lifted throttle, causing scott run of almirola , wrecking both cars.


at talladega, scott won first career sprint cup pole 2014 aaron s 499 in 33. in round #2, scott had driven fastest lap , total of 5 rounds, nobody able break track record. in race, scott ran in top 15 entire race collected in big 1 struck 45 laps go.


it announced scott drive no. 29 rcr in 2015 daytona 500, before entry list released, rcr cancelled plans field car him. instead, hired drive no. 62 chevrolet of premium motorsports rcr support, though shore lodge still sponsored effort. scott failed qualify daytona 500. scott qualified rcr s no. 33 entry next week @ atlanta. however, after michael annett failed qualify, scott gave ride allow sprint cup regular earn driver points. after that, scott finished 13th @ las vegas, best finish in series.


on december 9, 2015, richard petty motorsports announced scott take on sam hornish jr. s no. 9 ride 2016 season. car later renumbered no. 44.


scott started 2016 season crashing on last lap in can-am duel qualifying race. @ auto club speedway, scott scored career-best 12th-place finish. after dismal 2016 no top 10 s going october, finished second on bumper of joey logano s car @ talladega. first top 5 , 10 in career, first top 10 richard petty motorsports, , best career finish.


on november 10, 2016, scott announced retirement nascar competition following remainder of 2016 season. scott finished 15th in last nascar race @ homestead.


return xfinity series

on july 3, 2017, scott announced come out of retirement drive no. 3 chevrolet richard childress racing @ iowa , kentucky in july , september respectively. in first race of 2017 @ iowa, scott finished strong 3rd place.
