vajiralongkorn born on 28 july 1952 @ 17:45 in amphorn sathan residential hall of dusit palace in bangkok. when crown prince 1 year old, somdet phra sangkharat chao kromma luang wachirayanawong, 13th supreme patriarch of thailand of rattanakosin era, gave child first name @ birth, vajiralongkorn borommachakkrayadisonsantatiwong thewetthamrongsuboriban aphikhunuprakanmahittaladunladet phumiphonnaretwarangkun kittisirisombunsawangkhawat borommakhattiyaratchakuman (thai: วชิราลงกรณ บรมจักรยาดิศรสันตติวงศ เทเวศรธำรงสุบริบาล อภิคุณูประการมหิตลาดุลเดช ภูมิพลนเรศวรางกูร กิตติสิริสมบูรณ์สวางควัฒน์ บรมขัตติยราชกุมาร). son, second of 4 children of king bhumibol adulyadej , queen sirikit.


vajiralongkorn began education in 1956, when entered kindergarten @ chitralada school in dusit palace. after completing mathayom 1 (grade seven), sent study @ public schools in united kingdom, first @ king s mead school, seaford, sussex, , @ millfield school, somerset, completed secondary education in july 1970. in august 1970, attended five-week military training course @ king s school, in sydney, australia.


in 1972, prince enrolled @ royal military college, duntroon in canberra, australia. education @ duntroon divided 2 parts, military training australian army , bachelor s degree course under auspices of university of new south wales. graduated in 1976 newly commissioned lieutenant liberal arts degree.


in 1982 completed second bachelor s degree in law second-class honours @ sukhothai thammathirat open university.
