on 22 september 2016, on day when bill ban abortion debated in sejm, razem party organized demonstration called czarny protest ( black protest ), initiated party member małgorzata adamczyk. part of larger campaign, in people published selfies in black clothing in social media, tagged #czarnyprotest (#blackprotest). in subsequent days, similar protests being organized in other polish cities, such wrocław, Łódź , kraków. thousands of people took part in protests in various parts of poland. on 1 october 2016, large protest took place near sejm building, organized barbara nowacka of inicjatywa polska, had collected signatures under citizens bill liberalize polish abortion law.


on 3 october 2016, thousands of polish women went on strike oppose proposed legislation total ban on abortion, called czarny poniedziałek ( black monday ), proposed in facebook post polish actress krystyna janda. women modeled strike on successful strike women s rights in iceland in 1975, refusing attend school, work, or participate in domestic chores. pro-choice protesters marched in warsaw, gdańsk, Łódź, wrocław, , kraków, , demonstrators across europe marched in solidarity. approximately 98,000 protestors showed decry new bill. supporters of new legislation held counterprotests , catholic masses express alignment abortion ban.


by 5 october 2016, politicians distancing proposed legislation. on 6 october, lawmakers voted bill down plans present counterproposal government.


in 2016, foreign policy magazine included agnieszka dziemianowicz-bąk of razem party , barbara nowacka of inicjatywa polska, on annual list of 100 influential global thinkers role in organizing protests against total ban on abortion in poland.


this protest inspired similar event in ireland, strike 4 repeal, repeal ireland s 8 amendment bans abortion in cases.
