the association resulted pirate radio station, radio veronica, broadcast ship on international waters off coast of netherlands between 1959 , 1974. wave appearing in logo hearkens time. name veronica derivation of abbreviation vron (vrije radio omroep nederland / free radio broadcasting station netherlands).


after pirate-activities became legally impossible (31 august 1974), veronica transformed veronica broadcasting association (veronica omroep organisatie, short voo), enabling gain legal radio , television license within public broadcasting system. got licence on 28 december 1975. first television broadcast of veronica on 21 april 1976. within decade became 1 of largest public broadcasters , trademark tested being more popular coca-cola.


with holland media groep (1995-2001)

in 1995 veronica association gave public broadcasting , entered joint-venture clt, parent company of rtl 4 , rtl 5, vnu , endemol, called holland media groep, running 3 successful national tv-stations , 3 less successful national radio stations. bnn became public broadcasting association part of netherlands public broadcasting system , replaced veronica on 15 august 1997, after veronica gave public broadcasting , entered joint-venture clt, bnn first standing brutaal news network (flagrant news network). name later changed bart s neverending network after bart de graaff s death @ age 35 kidney failure caused rejection of kidney transplant received in 1999. conflicts let dissolution of co-operation in spring of 2001. rtl rebranded veronica yorin rebranded rtl 7


sbs (2003-)

in 2002-2003 veronica association learned hard way not realise radio , tv in stand-alone setting. in 2001 sbs broadcasting b.v., dutch branch of sbs broadcasting group, bought dutch tv channel fox 8 news corporation , renamed v8 in anticipation of veronica. however, negotiations between veronica association , sbs broadcasting not going planned , no agreement set. in course of 2002 veronica cooperated mtv networks benelux , started time-sharing mtv s kindernet. ratings poor though. @ end of 2002 association talking hmg again. veronica association closed deal sbs, , v8 rebranded veronica on 20 september 2003.
