history
first event

the first parkes elvis festival, held in 1992, 1 night event attracting 200 people. held @ graceland restaurant commemorate elvis birthday. on next few years more events added , festival extended 2 days few hundred people attending.


2005

by january 2005, attendance had increased 3,500 people.


2006

in january 2006, there 40 per cent increase 5,000 seeing festival , injected estimated $8 million parkes economy.


2007

the 2007 festival had on 60 events , held on 5 days. more 6,000 visitors estimated have attended. new world record set elvis impersonators in 1 location. sbs independent commissioned half-hour documentary on festival, elvis lives in parkes, first aired on australian television on 10 january 2007.


2008

featuring on 80 events, 2008 festival attracted in excess of 8,000 people.


2009

the 2009 festival became biggest yet huge crowd of 9,500 enjoying elvis festivities. king s castle - collection of genuine elvis memorabilia, introduced in 2009 adding new dimension festival. collection open year round.


2010

the festival attracted record crowds again 12,000 people enjoying on 140 events across 5 days.


2011

the 2011 festival attracted 15,000 people. there on 150 events across 5 days. kings castle - collection of genuine elvis memorabilia in parkes moved new , improved complex allowing more visitors see collection.


2012

the 2012 festival started on 11 january 2012. features guest appearance australian singer kamahl.


2017

the festival runs january 11 january 15. 25th festival. theme viva las vegas. elvis tribute artists 4 feature concerts held @ parkes leagues club pete storm , jake rowley.

11th century parish church of St Leonard Hythe, Kent
