his love of cricket led him captain university s team , later prompted involvement in leading karnataka state cricket association president.


he married maharani pramoda devi wasiyar, bettada kote ursu family of mysore state. had no children. although never official king of mysore kingdom prince, people called him esteem maharaja.


wadiyar brother of 5 sisters: princesses gayatri devi, meenakshi devi, kamakshi devi, indrakshi devi, and, youngest, vishalakshi devi.


he celebrated royal tradition of mysore dasara performing rituals conducted ancestors—the rulers of erstwhile princely state of mysore. conducted khasgi (private/special) durbar during festivities, ascended golden throne @ amba vilas hall of mysore palace.
