in course of first balkan war, army of thessaly overcame fortified ottoman positions along border in battle of sarantaporo , advanced north. despite setback of detached division in battle of sorovich, main army broke through ottoman defences @ battle of yenidje, forcing, after few days, surrender of thessaloniki , garrison. having effected union allied serbian , bulgarian armies, army of thessaly deactivated, units going reinforce epirus front , others settling along new demarcation line in macedonia.
