midnapore connected not larger cities in region, smaller towns , villages in district. midnapore railway station on howrah , express train routes. many local , passenger trains ply day between howrah , midnapore adra , midnapore. apart these local trains, many major express trains pass through midnapore including jhargram-medinipur jangalmahal express, delhi-puri nandan kanan express, howrah-lokmanya tilak t samarsatta express, puri-patna express, ernakulam-patna express etc. midnapore close kharagpur, major hub of south eastern railway 13 kilometres.


at present midnapore railway section undergoing development process. station complex undergoing modernisation. platforms being increased in length. work in process double railway line between kharagpur jn. , midnapore. apart existing railway bridge on kangsabati river, new double line railway bridge has been constructed (carrying traffic 4 march 2012) smoothen railway traffic.
