kentucky never completed, instead serving parts hulk while in mothball fleet @ philadelphia naval shipyard 1950 1958. hurricane hazel hit area on 15 october 1954, causing kentucky break free moorings , run aground in delaware river. in 1956, kentucky s bow removed , used in repair of wisconsin, had been damaged in collision destroyer uss eaton on 6 may 1956. congressman william huston natcher attempted block sale of ship objecting bill in august 1957. nevertheless, kentucky struck naval vessel register on 9 june 1958 , incomplete hulk sold scrapping boston metals company of baltimore, maryland on 31 october $1,176,666. towed shipyard in baltimore in february 1959.
