she born in nallıhan, ankara province in 1929.


publishing career

as author, playwright , human rights activist, became 1 of prized novelists of turkey. considered 1 of important living authors in turkey revered intellectual, tightly constructed prose balance between realistic millieu of turkey knows firsthand , broader, more humanistic elements of social pressure , gender prejudice. in unfamiliar urban world, fictional newcomers modernity struggle age-old issues complicated perplexing political, religious, economic , social forces.


she has been rewarded numerous honors besides literary awards won in fields of novel, short story , drama. perception of subtle , overt changes in modern turkish society , writing entitled modernism , social change , adalet ağaoğlu received turkish presidency merit award in 1995. in 1998, ağaoğlu received honorary ph.d. anadolu university followed ph.d. of humane letters ohio state university.
