Description Western whiptail
a. t. multiscutatus
the western whiptail has long , slender body, small grainy scales on back, , larger rectangular scales on belly. upper side has light stripes, , throat can pinkish or orange in adults. maximum snout-to-vent length (svl) 102 mm (about 4 inches), , maximum total length (including tail) 305 mm (about 12 inches). hatchlings orange-yellow dark brown-black spots or stripes.
