act 1

scene 1

scene 2 cyrano arrives @ bakery, eagerly anticipating meeting roxane. rageneau s wife, lise, enters of rageneau s manuscripts has turned paper bags pastries, rageneau s dismay. roxane s nurse arrives roxane , cyrano gets out of room telling go out streets , eat pastries, , read poetry written on bags. alone cyrano, roxane confesses love man. cyrano thinks him loves, christian. roxane makes cyrano promise protect christian in battle.

scene 1


at battlefield in arras, soldiers asleep. christian, carbon , le bret among them, , le bret awakens find cyrano running camp enemy lines. has gone out every day deliver christian s letters roxane. de guiche arrives , chastises them. after cyrano insults de guiche, waves white handkerchief signal spy tell spanish attack, , ensuring death cyrano , guards. roxane later arrives rageneau, bring food. has crossed enemy territory see christian. cyrano tells christian letters, , gives him letter sign can give roxane if dies. christian notices mark on letter, , cyrano replies 1 of tears, dying not terrible never seeing roxane again. roxane tells christian love him if ugly, , realizes loves cyrano, not him. christian convinces cyrano tell roxane letters, rushes battle. cyrano so, le bret , carbon enter carrying mortally wounded christian. cyrano tells christian told roxane , loves him, , christian dies.

fifteen years later, roxane lives @ convent, mourning loss of christian. cyrano comes every day, delivering gazette, or news outside world. cyrano comes visit her, , tell news, , roxane notices blood on head. cyrano confesses has been brutally beaten 1 of enemies, , dying. before dies, cyrano requests read christian s farewell letter 1 last time. roxane noitices cyrano not reading letter, reciting it. realizes cyrano loved along. cyrano dies in roxane s arms.
