the park served parade grounds union army stationed @ camp mcclellan during american civil war. camp mcclellan laid out in august 1861. largest of 5 camps in , around city of davenport. after war area became residential area, named mcclellan heights, , southwest portion became lindsay park. park held civil war muster , mercantile exposition annually in 1980s.
