two citizens of honour (ehrenbürger) of city of leipzig buried here, senior imperial counsel hermann tessendorf , president of imperial court rudolf freiherr von seckendorff. further notable individuals buried here ernst arthur seemann, founder of publishing house e. a. seemann, book publisher , dealer karl tauchnitz (carl christian philipp tauchnitz), urologist arthur kollmann, , ernst pinkert, founder of leipzig zoo.


also in nordfriedhof 1 of oldest monuments battle of leipzig (1813). after mass grave of fallen of battle discovered in 1892 in eutritzscher straße, leipzig historical union commissioned gravestone architect franz drechsler. monument, opposite former theresienstraße entrance, dedicated on 18 october 1899, , consists of unworked block of stone inscription freund und feind im tod vereint ( friend , foe united in death ) , smaller rectangular stone block behind memorial stone.

11th century parish church of St Leonard Hythe, Kent
