the first predecessor of squadron 536th bombardment squadron, activated @ salt lake city army air base in november 1942 1 of original squadrons of 382d bombardment group. squadron equipped consolidated b-24 liberators in 1943 , conducted operational training february through march 1943 , replacement training until march 1944, when inactivated.


air force reserve , korean war

the second predecessor of squadron organized in reserves 336th troop carrier squadron @ birmingham municipal airport, alabama in june 1949, although moved mitchel air force base, new york in october. transported united states army troops , cargo, provided aerial resupply, , dropped paratroopers within u.s. from, may 1951 – january 1953 \.

performed similar duties worldwide from, april 1953 – june 1976.

the 336th has performed aerial refueling worldwide since 1977.
