upon death of prince bolesław iii wrymouth in 1138, milicz became part of polish duchy of silesia, ruled duke bolesław tall 1163, , seat of castellany. citizens received town privileges in 1245. in 1294 area conquered duke henry iii of głogów , 1313 belonged silesian duchy of oels (oleśnica), became bohemian fiefdom in 1329. in 1358 wrocław bishops sold milicz estates piast duke konrad i, successors had gothic castle built. oleśnica dukes held town until in 1492 line became extinct , duchy seized expired fief bohemian crown. in 1494 king vladislas ii of bohemia granted milicz chamberlain sigismund kurzbach, installed autonomous silesian state country of milicz , Żmigród (trachenberg). milicz part acquired maltzan noble family in 1590.
