an anime adaptation produced sunrise , directed shinji takamatsu announced in october 2011 , premiered on tv tokyo on january 9, 2012. followed later airings on at-x, bandai channel, tva, tvo , online streaming on niconico. series later released on 6 blu-ray , dvd volumes in japan between april 3 , september 4, 2012 , included special bonus episodes along episodes streamed on niconico prior television premiere of anime. series licensed nis america. company released series in entirety english subtitles on two-disc blu-ray premium edition package on august 6, 2013. hanabee entertainment announced had licensed anime release in australia. followed dvd release on july 31, 2013. hulu picked series online streaming in united states in 2013.

a live-action film adaptation produced showgate , directed daigo matsui announced in april 2013 , released on october 12, 2013. cast includes masaki suda tadakuni, shūhei nomura yoshitake , ryo yoshizawa hidenori. film follows original story boys of sanada north holding joint school festival neighboring all-girls high school. director matsui remarked had spent high school years in all-boys school himself , identified daily lives began looking @ boys logic objectively. made him feel sad , embarrassed , felt though made documentary of own life @ end of filming. film released pony canyon on blu-ray , dvd in japan on march 19, 2014.
