Public opinion Abortion in Poland




























in latest poll on abortion cbos public opinion research center, 69% of poles view abortion immoral , unacceptable, 14% of poles ambivalent towards , 14% view acceptable. half of poles oppose right abortion, 1 in 7 (14%) supports complete ban of abortions, while more one-third (36%) believe there should exceptions. @ same time, half (45%) think abortion should permitted. in group, 7% support abortion without restrictions, , 38% see restrictions abortion rights.


surveys indicate conservative turn in 1990s. although supporters of legal abortion prevailed, difference continuously narrowed. in 2006, when discussion introducing constitutional ban on abortion publicly conducted, opponents of legal abortion first time more numerous supporters of abortion rights. @ present proportions have returned 2007 levels, when both groups equal in size.


most poles accept abortion in cases when legal under current law. support abortion rights when mother s life in danger universal (87%). on three-quarters of respondents think should available women pregnancy threatens health (78%), or caused rape or incest (78%). three-fifths (60%) support right abortion if known child handicapped.


the support legal abortion in cases when banned lower. quarter think should legal if woman in difficult material (26%) or personal (23%) situation. 1 in 5 respondents (18%) think abortion should legal if woman not want have child.


a poll 2013 showed 49% of poles support current legislation on abortion, 34% think should liberalised , 9% think should more restrictive.


a cbos poll 2013 found 75% of poles think abortion wrong , can never justified . 7% thought there nothing wrong , justified .


a cbos poll february 2014 found majority (65%) found abortion morally inappropriate , 27% found appropriate, drop of 4% in comparison 2009 poll.


a cbos poll november 2014 found majority (55%) of poles oppose abortion on request, 37% supporting it. furthermore, 71% of poles believe abortion on request inappropriate, 20% thinking appropriate.


in pew research poll 2017, 8% of polish respondents believed abortion should legal in cases , 33% should legal in cases. on other hand, 38% believed should illegal in cases , 13% should illegal in cases.
