the class based on similar austro-hungarian river monitors, such körös , temes classes. romanian warships larger , had main armament of 3 120 mm naval guns in individual turrets, 2 120 mm howitzers, 4 anti-aircraft guns of 47 mm , 2 6.5 mm machine guns. armor thickness reached 70-75 mm around belt, turrets , conning tower, 60 mm @ bulkheads , down 20 mm on portions of deck. 4 warships built stt in austria-hungary in sections, transported romania rail assembled , launched @ galați shipyard in romania between 1907 , 1908.
