the enchanted village theme park first opened in 1977 byron betts. initial 12-acre (49,000 m) park site held half-dozen rides. in 1984, wild waves waterpark built adjacent enchanted village; combined amusement complex became known enchanted parks. in 1991, co-owners michael moodenbaugh , jeff stock paid $8 million enchanted parks. in 1993, moodenbaugh traded share of enchanted parks, inc. shares in jointly owned amusement park in amherstburg, ontario, canada called boblo island amusement park, inc. in 1993, jeff stock purchased several rides boblo island. stock sold shares of enchanted parks, inc. in late 2000 6 flags $19.3 million. in 2000 park had grown on 70 acres (280,000 m), more 20 rides, , northwest s largest waterpark. in 2002 , 2003, major expansion took place, addition of several new attractions, many manufactured zamperla , s&s power. in 2002, approximately 1000 seasonal workers employed positions rides operators , food service workers. many of these seasonal workers students of local high schools. park s name reverted enchanted village , wild waves water park 2016 season once again split park 2 separate parks instead of one.

in april 2007, 6 flags sold park orlando-based real estate investment trust cnl income properties,which leased park parc management.
in january 2010, parc management had defaulted on lease cnl wild waves , majority of other parks. wild waves placed under new management of norpoint entertainment (owned previous wild waves owner jeff stock). stock implemented many changes park in 2011 including new water ride season.
with cnl income properties acquisition, park named wild waves theme & water park. other parks owned cnl income properties]] included darien lake theme park resort, elitch gardens, frontier city, splashtown waterpark, white water bay, , waterworld california, of bought in $312 million purchase 6 flags. in
in november 2016, wild waves , other cnl properties sold epr properties, based in kansas city, missouri. total price of properties $456 million, although there no specific price disclosed wild waves. parks placed under management of premier parks, llc.
august 2016 drowning accident
on august 20, 2016, 33-year-old man died in activity pool due drowning. police report noted multiple missed chances attempt rescue. according report, children reported body @ bottom of pool lifeguard, “believed pranking him , did not think of it. in statement released police, wild waves said actively reviewed accident, safety protocols, , actions taken staff.
