los angeles dodgers (1990)

holmes went 0–1 in 14 games in 1990, first action in major leagues. on december 20, traded milwaukee brewers bert heffernan.


milwaukee brewers (1991–1992)

in first season brewers, 1–4 era on 4.00, although picked first 3 saves. pitched 4–4 record following year, had 4.72 era. following season, taken colorado rockies in expansion draft.


colorado rockies (1993–1997)

holmes first season in colorado not similar last in milwaukee. had 3–3 record era rose 4.05. in strike-shortened 1994 season, holmes went 0–3 era on 6.00. when play resumed in 1995, had revival, going 6–1 era of 3.24 , helping rockies reach playoffs. threw 1 2/3 innings on 3 games , allowed 6 hits , 2 runs while striking out two. in 1996, again posted 5–4 record 3.97 era. 1997 season considered breakout year. despite high 5.34 era, 9–2 on season. on october 27, 1997, holmes granted free agency.


new york yankees (1998)

holmes signed yankees on december 22, 1997. in 34 relief appearances yankees, holmes posted 0–3 record , 3.33 era. despite not earning win in regular season, , picking 2 saves, appeared on yankees postseason roster , earned world series ring when yankees swept padres in 1998.


arizona diamondbacks (1999–2000)

holmes traded diamondbacks on march 3, 1999 ben ford , izzy molina. went 4–3 3.70 era on 44 games. on april 28, 2000, released after posting 11.57 era.


st. louis cardinals (2000)

holmes signed cardinals on may 4. 0–1 9.72 era before being traded.


baltimore orioles (2000)

he traded orioles on june 28. in 5 games, posted 25.07 era. released on july 19.


return arizona (2000)

on august 11, signed diamondbacks again. had 6.75 era in 4 games. overall, finished 2000 13.03 era in 18 games. released on october 13.


out of league (2001) comeback braves (2002–2003)

holmes did not sign 2001 season. made comeback in 2002 braves, 2–2 1.81 era on 55 games. threw 2 2/3 innings in 2002 national league division series, allowing 1 hit while striking out five. re-signed after season.


in 2003, 1–2 4.29 era in 48 games. retired after season, citing desire spend time family. still resides in asheville , entrepreneur.
