his elder son sir john ritchie findlay, , grandson sir edmund findlay followed him proprietors of scotsman. younger son, james leslie findlay became architect, among projects distinctive new offices , printing works scotsman on north bridge, edinburgh. daughter, dora louise findlay, married admiral of fleet sir roger backhouse in 1907.
