the loyalists unaware Đính s real intention engulf saigon rebel divisions , lock tung s loyalists in countryside not defend president. tung , palace agreed send 4 saigon-based special forces companies out of capital of saigon on 29 october 1963.

on 1 november 1963, tung summoned coup organisers joint general staff headquarters @ tân sơn nhứt air base, on pretext of routine officers lunch meeting. @ 13:30, general trần văn Đôn announced coup taking place. of officers rose applaud, tung did not. taken away nguyễn văn nhung, bodyguard of general dương văn minh. led away, tung shouted remember gave stars!
