the official , accepted account of how city came known fennville, white settler name of elam atwater fenn built saw mill in immediate vicinity of current community. led people referring settlement fenn s mill became name associated post office there. documents pluralized mill render fenn s mills. first road through fennville built harrison hutchins , james mccormick in 1837.
