dangerous skardu road


the highway begins south of gilgit on n-35 national highway (karakoram highway), near juglot , extends eastwards towards skardu city. road gravel, on year sections paved. road winding , in places wide enough 1 vehicle pass. on other parts of highway bordered cliff drop of hundreds of meters (many hundreds of feet) unprotected guardrails. total travel time between gilgit , skardu around 8 hours. roads can blocked weeks @ time depending on conditions (though 2 5 days more normal). road constructed pakistan army engineers association of chinese engineers in 1982. road ends in skardu, capital of skardu district , baltistan division, @ elevation of 2,226 m (7,303 ft) above sea level. road 1 of dangerous roads in world. road has not repaired since construction.
