in preparation war, 2 of 3 infantry divisions in hellenic army, 1st infantry division under major general nikolaos makris , 2nd infantry division under colonel georgios mavromichalis mobilized , moved larissa , trikala respectively. on 25 march, crown prince constantine named commander-in-chief of army of thessaly, comprising these 2 divisions , support units, colonel konstantinos sapountzakis chief of staff. army of thessaly comprised 36,000 men, 500 cavalry , 96 guns.


when hostilities broke out on 18 april, army of thessaly defeated in successive battles on border passes, battle of farsala , battle of domokos. time of armistice on 20 may, army of thessaly had been pushed out of thessaly proper ottoman advance.
