at conference held in istanbul on 19 march 2013, members of national coalition elected ghassan hitto prime minister of interim government syria. hitto has announced technical government formed led between 10 , 12 ministers. minister of defence chosen free syrian army. of 3 april 2013, organization based in exile , lack[s] organizational base inside syria. new ministries not placed in single location distributed in regions under control of syrian opposition. government s main headquarters @ undisclosed location close turkish-syrian border. health ministry, interior ministry , housing ministry have not been filled because officials chosen did not have 2/3 of vote confirm them. christian, kurd , woman part of appointed cabinet; ahmad ramadan, member of national coalition, has stated cabinet appointed on meritocratic basis. assyrian component of national coalition has stated not given attention in selection of cabinet. general assembly has administrative function. interim cabinet dissolved on 22 july 2014. new cabinet formed on 14 october 2014.


in january 2015, syrian interim government received $6 million usd united states, first funding of kind. funds used reconstruction efforts , strengthening of local government in opposition held parts of syria such northern aleppo , northwestern idlib, interim government planning expand northern latakia , northern hama in following months.


on late september 2016, syrian interim government minister local administration among dozen people killed isil suicide bomber in southern city of inkhil.


the interim government based in turkey , has received direct funding united states. august 2017, syrian interim government stopped paying salaries workers, , work within interim government became voluntary work.
