2009 European Parliament election Pirate Party of Sweden












in first pre-election poll before 2009 european parliament election, pirate party registered @ 5.1%, enough seat in parliament. support party concentrated younger voters, of ages 18–29 (where second largest party) , 30-44 (where fourth largest).


by 22 may 2009, demoskop poll showed 7.9% support amongst swedish voters, making pirate party third largest party. week later had grown 8.2% , projected 2 seats in parliament, 21.8% support amongst people aged 18–29. party s top 2 candidates christian engström , amelia andersdotter.


a model-based prediction 2009 european parliament election political scientists estimated on 4 june 2009 pirate party third largest party sweden, gaining 2 seats.


the pirate party got enough votes @ least 1 seat of 18 available seats sweden has @ european parliament, getting 7.1 % of swedish votes. following ratification of treaty of lisbon, second seat given amelia andersdotter on december 1, 2009. pirate party joined greens-european free alliance group.


the pirate party of germany participated in european parliament elections, first participation in nationwide election, , achieved 0.9% in germany, getting 230 000 votes. missed 5% barrier wide margin qualified public funding.
