medievil action-adventure video game first released in europe , north america on 1 october 1998 , in japan on 17 june 1999. re-released on playstation network in 2007. story of game begins in year 1286, when evil sorcerer named zarok plots take on kingdom of gallowmere undead army. during battle, charlatan knight, sir daniel fortesque, led army managed kill zarok; however, dan in reality struck down , killed first arrow fired in battle. 100 years later, zarok reappears , casts spell on gallowmere awaken undead army. however, unwittingly revives corpse of dan in process. dan uses opportunity defeat zarok, save gallowmere , earn place true hero.
