early career

a 23-year-old williams made debut light heavyweight on november 6, 2010 @ jaycees community center, waldorf, maryland against 34-year-old daniel shull in scheduled 4-round bout. williams won via unanimous decision (40-35, 40-35 , 40-36) on 3 judges scorecards. in 2011, williams fought total of 5 times, winning of them, opponents, bennie meeks, williams beat via first round tko, mark anderson via points, lee lee pender via 1st round knockout, donnie moore via 1st round knockout , reynaldo rodriguez via 2nd round knockout.

williams faced toughest test on november 26, 2013 @ bb&t center in sunrise, florida against former two-time world title challenger yusaf mack (31-6-2, 17 kos) in scheduled 10-round fight. fight went distance williams winning via unanimous decision, 3 judges scored (99-91, 98-92 & 97-92). williams next fought 32 year old cornelius white (21-2, 16 kos) on january 24, 2014 @ little creek casino resort, washington vacant wbo nabo light heavyweight title. action took place in round 1 williams knocked down first; however, williams recovered , managed knockdown white twice referee waved fight off after 2 minutes , 49 seconds of round 1. on april 24, 2014 williams defeated enrique ornelas (34-6, 22 kos) via 3rd round knockout.


williams defended wbo nabo title against 35 year old spanish boxer gabriel campillo (23-6-1, 10 kos) on august 1, 2014. williams ahead on 2 scorecards after 5 rounds (49-46, 49-46 , 47-48), never came out round 6, resulting in first loss professional, bringing record 17 wins, 1 loss. fight ibf eliminator #2 spot. following loss against campillo, williams reached out famed boxing trainer , commentator, theodore teddy atlas, , received advice test of man , of champion is, ...what after this, learn this, [and] moment on. advice not lost on williams.


williams fought 4 months later in december against experienced 35-year-old michael gbenga @ uic pavilion in chicago. fight went full 10 rounds williams announced winner unanimously 98-91 on 3 scorecards. after 11 months hiatus, williams returned ring in november 2015 @ beau rivage resort & casino, biloxi, mississippi against umberto savigne (12-2, 9 kos). savigne , williams both knocked down in round one. savigne down again in round 2 referee keith hughes waved fight off.


williams vs. rodriguez

williams returned ring on april 30, 2016 on undercard of ortiz-berto @ stubhub center, carson, california in scheduled 10-round fight against former world title challenger edwin rodriguez (28-1, 19 kos), career loss undefeated super-middleweight champion andre ward. fight due take place on thurman-porter undercard on march 12 @ mohegan sun casino in uncasville, connecticut. fight postponed after thurman involved in car accident. fight lasted 6 minutes, rodriguez knocked down twice in round 2.

promoter yvon michel announced on june 16, 2016, williams challenge 38-year-old lineal , wbc world light heavyweight champion adonis stevenson (27-1, 22 kos) on july 29 @ videotron centre in quebec city. stevenson s seventh title defense. williams weighed in heaviest of 2 @ 174.6lbs stevenson in @ 173.6lbs. in brief slug fest, stevenson knocked out williams in round 4 retain titles in seventh successful defense. stevenson connected hard left williams head in round 1 floored him approximately 30 seconds left, williams beat referees count , survived round. in round 4, stevenson concentrated of attack williams body, hitting accidental low blow halting fight timeout whilst recovered. when fight resumed, stevenson continued attack body. whilst groggy, stevenson connected left head, dropping williams final time. time of stoppage 6 seconds before end of round.


williams vs. browne

on february 18, 2017 williams lost second consecutive fight. knocked down 3 times , stopped in round 6 of scheduled 10 round bout against prospect marcus browne (18-0, 13 kos). fight took place @ cintas center in cincinnati, ohio. time of stoppage, williams behind on 3 judges scorecards (49-4, 3 times), browne being deducted point hitting williams after knocking him down jab. referee counted ten realized error , gave williams 5 minutes recover , still counting knockdown , taking point. browne earned purse of $65,000 whilst williams received smaller amount of $35,000. following fight, browne called out wbc , lineal light heavyweight champion adonis stevenson, had knocked out williams.
